Kingdom Centred Unity Week 4
This past Sunday, Pastor Tim spoke to us about Kingdom-centred unity. Our resident historian and theologian AB adds to the topic by going into some of the unifying things in church history, and how we join in unity through what we did at church last week.
Kingdom Centred Church Week 3
How's your prayer life been? Pastor Tim shared this past week on Kingdom-centred prayer, and we also had our first church planting meeting. Find out more as we seek the Lord's will together in prayer!
Kingdom Centred Church Week 2: Knowing the King
This past week, Pastor Tim spoke to us on knowing the King as an integral part of being a Kingdom Centred Church. Click below to see and hear a short, one minute video on how knowing the King fits into having a Kingdom centred vision!
Kingdom Centred Church
We explore what life was like for the first disciples when Jesus returned to heaven. We see how God's Spirit turned ordinary men into powerhouses of faith and we claim the promise that Jesus made, “You will do even greater things.”
"He passes me by, but I do not perceive Him."
A few years ago, I read a phrase that challenged the way that I viewed God's work in my life. "God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them."
When we see the night illuminated by moonlight, our initial thought isn't usually, "the moon is reflecting the sun so well." But if we remember some basic science lessons from our younger years, we know this is exactly what's happening.
There's a Spanish saying that I heard recently, which, when translated literally, means "eyes that do not see, heart that does not feel" (ojos que no ven, corazón que no siente). An English idiom that would fit the meaning here is "out of sight, out of mind".
Perhaps this is the moment when we can take a step back, as we did with King Ahasuerus, and look at the bigger picture of what God is doing. His wisdom infinitely outstrips ours, and His ways are higher.
2018 A Gospel Year!
I am praying for all of you, that the dynamic of grace will be an even greater renewing force in your life and in our church body in 2018! Will you join me in that prayer for this new year?
What's the big deal with "in Christ alone" anyway?
In the Christian life, we stand before God solely on the merit of Jesus Christ. To attempt to add anything else to it, is not to take both paths, as we may mistakenly believe, but to run headlong down the wrong path.
Sola Scriptura - The Scripture alone!
With so many competing voices in our ears these days, we need to be reminded to get back to God’s message for us which is written down in His Word. It shows us our need for constant ‘reformation’ of our hearts and minds, bringing them back in line with God’s heart and will for us.
At the Heart of What We Do
Therefore it is good that we take time now to look at the gospel, and for our hearts to be awestruck all over again, for our spirits to cry out and for our mouths to praise Him.
Near Death Experience
The forgiveness and love of God are for us. We traitors, criminals, and thieves who come into His presence and recognise who we truly are, and who He truly is can be saved.
Not all who wander are lost, not all who are near are found
We are all in need of redemption. We are all lost until we are found in Jesus. And it is by grace, not by merit, that we are found in Him.
An Alarming Message
If the prophet's main function was to represent God by bringing His word to His people, then we can seek to listen first. What is God saying to us? What message is being brought to us?
The Fierce Urgency of Now
He has freed us from our previous bonds to sin and death -- the characteristics of the age that was, and still is until the completion of the coming of the kingdom. He has called us to join Him, and we must respond.
I've got this
Jesus says to become like children in order to enter the kingdom of heaven in Matthew 18. The remedy to the slow poison of independence is in knowing that we are dependent children, and God is our loving, gracious Father.
Of Grocery Lists and Temptation
Scripture is filled with the essential knowledge that will protect you and keep you. It's dangerous to go alone, so take these words with you. They are what will sustain you in the face of temptation, and help you to defeat it.
The Art of Humility
'Jesus takes our sin-soaked hearts, hardened by years of pride and denial, and gives us new hearts of flesh that beat once more for God. He takes our hands and washes them clean. He even takes the misshapen clay of our striving and creates something beautiful out of them.'
Now You Dismiss
'As we witness God's promise to Simeon come to pass, and as we anticipate the hope of salvation come to fruition in Jesus through the coming weeks, we too can join in song to praise His name.'
An Introduction to the Gospel
'Inasmuch as many have taken it upon themselves to put together an account of the Good News of Jesus Christ, it is our pleasure here at Suburban Baptist Church to deliver to you an orderly account from Luke, that you may know the truth!'
